I really enjoyed this book and loved the way the story unfolded. Although it was prirmarily about the relationship between a mother and son, it was in no way sentimental. It was interesting to see just how much some people have to contend with but more importantly how they coped with these difficulties.

Dear Karl,

Thank you for comments and interesting aural history. It certainly seems that you have done your homework and have really given lots of thought to your hearing problems over the years. We are going to the launch of a new product this month specifically to help tinnitus sufferers; I will gladly feedback our thoughts to you on the product.

Have you tried wearing hearing aids, and if so, what were your thoughts?

I agree it can be frustrating trying to find the right noise protection, especially if you have a great sensitivity to even glasses, but it is worth preserving when you are in excessive noise as your ears have already been damaged you maybe more susceptible to further problems.

Thank you for your interest in our site, we look forward to hearing from you again.
Regards
Kate

And by the way, I really like this site since it is very interesting and explains much of the trouble people experience.
It shows to me that you people didn't just make a business out of hearing loss but take the matter serious. Thanks.

Hi, i do experience tinnitus in both ears from waking up till sleeping in. I am 48 and have this since.....2-3 years.
My occupations? gunner in the navy from my 17th untill my 23rd. After that I became a welder and did that untill my 40th, then I became a tilesetter/stonemason. Maybe stupid but I never appreciated the use of hearing protection, I am amazed by people since my 17th that can wear earmufs and still have a conversation with someone, earplugs build up pressure in my ear and I throw them out or have to remove them to be able to listen to someone and forget to put them back in untill something hurts my hearing.
The custom fit, cast hearing protection, never seem to fit perfect to me and constantly anoys me, I am very sensitive I guess because even wearing glasses since my 27th is still something I dislike.
However, of course I am experiencing hearing loss but don't need hearing aids yet, the funny thing is that in the forest I hear everything from birds to distant water rushing or splashing or a bird digging and rustling for insects in dry leafs.
I am ok listening to people in a conversation but can't hear them when other sounds enter my ear, wether that is caused by a lack of concentration on one thing or hearing loss I don't know.
As a child during a birth day party in a room full of talking people I found myself every time at some moment listening to the noise of all those people talking, it always sounded like an attack to my hearing as if I stuck my head in a beehive and it always sent me up to my attic room where it was nice and quiet, after the relief I could return to the room.
Thinking about the tinnitus I sometimes wonder or this problem could be fixed with laser, just like we fix eyes with laser, if it would be possible to eliminate the element(s) that cause(s) the ringing, by me the sound is like the old navy radar system, the high pitch sound.
I hope I haven't anoyed you with my stuff and hope that in the future someone will find a cure rather then a device for hearing loss.

I loved this book, I am very interested in reading books about war time and this comes in at a completely new angle for me. I like the way it is written in letters and the detail of the Island, I hope I can visit Guernsey one day. I highly recommend this book, Enjoy.

I really loved this book, it stayed with me for ages after finishing and left me wanting it not to end. I have never seen the film and not sure I want to in case it is different to how I imagined it. It is quite a shockingly violent book in parts but beautifully written. I have recommend this book to a number of people and would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it.
